... Wind Beneath My Wings
I'm alive, filled to the brim, heading home from Houston after my White Belt Intensive Training. Soaring high above me a flock of birds seamlessly change direction; it's at their moment of shift, I feel wind beneath my wings. Really! My arms didn't move. The windows in the truck aren't down and yet I clearly felt the wind they felt beneath my own arms. Flying, my change in direction from corporate to self-employment felt affirmed.
It's February 2005, I'm headed for Houston to spend 7 days to collect some moves and some music. I want to teach Nia and I've signed up to attend Helen Terry's White Belt! (Learn More) Little did I know, a collective of disciplines awaited their introduction to my Body. They gathered together to present themselve with one goal in mind. They had a path to reveal, a path toward Loving My Body and Loving My Life.
The was set in Stillness. An Optimal Learning Environment was agreed on; YES, I am in. The Soul of Nia openly suggested I connect to Joy by Choosing Sensation. I learn to extend an invitation creating an Environment for Embracing All. A point was made. Natural Time introduced me to my Fluid Structure, while the Arts enticed me to explore diverse aspects of my whole self (BMES). I 'grok'ed this second point and a thread appeared between Principle 1 and Principle 2, a connection occured. A third idea presented itself forming a surface of Silence; I am here now waiting for Sound. Hearing that Anything Goes, I'm moved to explore as FreeDance arrives with a volumous container of play toys, tools for expanding my creativity. I'm Being Seduced by this collection and it's a sensational experience. Next I heard "Ask your Body what it needs to feel better thne wait, the answer will come." I'm skeptical, but continued my note taking, pretending, faking it, acting as if I understood. Paying Attention to Pleasure caught my full attention, this sounded the Real Me, it felt real too as I've always felt better when I Danced Through my Life. My Feet turned into Hands and I began to fall in love with my bare feet and the feeling of the floor. "Do it your way," activated my Conscious Personal Trainer. I shifted my weight and smiled. Change!! WHAT?! I squirmed, noting discomfort. Interfere...Judge...Not! An impossible task is asked of me! Afterall, I'd spent years developing my judge, we were tight! A structure of ideal examples continues to emerge as Energy Centers introduce themselves. With arms open wide, the Upper Extremities began to express. Loosening, tightening; I adjusted my Body, and Dynamic Alignment into a "body-click". Excited to Deliver the Promise, consciously using my time, and life force energy as a healing gesture; I was eager to approach the Tools for Transformation. Listening and Dancing, I can hardly fathom what was coming next, I summoned my courage, as that's how I'd always approached life. Filled with fear, I step up in front of my peers to Share What I Sense. My good news: The self-selected experience of teaching a song didn't kill me. Infinite possibilities unwound, outward and inward simultaneously.
The time has come, 7 days have passed, I'd collected Nia's Technique in my Body. Now it was back to Austin with this network of informational threads emerging as a supportive web. I was returning home with a system of acquiring knowledge through research and study, a applied science containing all the ingredients for Alchemy of my Body, my Mind, my Emotions and my Spirit.
Back in my truck heading toward Austin, TX ... Clarity arrived with their [the birds above my head] change in direction, with my change in direction. A prayer I'd pondered for nearly a year "Mitakuye Oyasin"** revealed itself to me through the sensation of that moment.
**Wikipedia: Mitakuye Oyasin - a Lakota Sioux prayer. The phrase translates as "all my relatives," "we are all related," or "all my relations." It is a prayer of oneness and harmony with all forms of life: other people, animals, birds, insects, trees and plants, and even rocks, rivers, mountains and valleys.
Today, curiosity abundantly fuels this Sensation Scientists' journey. Join me in Austin, TX for the next Nia White Belt Certification. It's moving experience.
