My Nia practice began in 2008, when Nia was added to the schedule at the yoga studio where I was taking yoga to relieve stress. Even before the end of that Nia first class, I was hooked. I immediately connected to the “Joy of Movement”. And as my connection to sensation deepened, I found healing - for my physical body, by mental body, my emotional body and my spirit/soul. As my passion for Nia grew, so did the urge to share the joy and healing through teaching. I completed my White Belt in October, 2013 and currently teach and sub in the San Francisco - East Bay Area.
When teaching, I strive to guide participants to listen to the voices of the body; to discover their Body’s way; to sense what the body needs and to move in ways that fulfill those needs. I recently completed the Moving to Heal and 52 Moves training and find (not surprisingly) so much of what I learned enables me to enhance my classic Nia classes. My goal for each and every participant is to move in ways that feel good for their body, to enjoy the movement and the music, to have fun and find joy and ultimately leave class feeling better.
