About me:

Although my parents were both from Eastern Europe, they moved to England after the war and then had me. I live in England now with my gorgeous husband and two of my children, as the eldest has flown the nest and is at university. I have always been a teacher. First it was biology, then health, then literacy. Now it's Nia! Apart from Nia, my other two major passions are being a mother (my kids are a joy and a lesson, daily) and learning and practising green nutrition for vitality and longevity. 

Why do you practice and/or teach Nia?

I practice and teach Nia because it feels good, while I am moving and also afterwards. I always loved to dance. When I was four years old, I did my own version of freedance to classical music my parents were playing. I even performed a freedance at my grandfather's 80th birthday in New York when I was five. When I discovered Nia by reading about it, I knew it was for me. I was so addicted to being in my head, to thinking, that it wasn't until I had taken several classes that I actually connected with sensation and joy. But I knew deep down that I had found my path to growth and transformation. I have never looked back!

Where and with whom do you take Nia classes and/or trainings?

I have taken my White Belt and Blue Belt with Ann Christiansen, my Green Belt with Carlos and my Brown Belt with Debbie and Carlos. I have visited some White Belts with Helen Terry. Whenever I can I go to London and take a class or Jam with Dorit Noble. I had the pleasure of team teaching with my "belt sister" Evi Patsia (we have taken three belt trainings together).

What is one thing most people don't know about Nia?

Nia can not only change your body, it can also change your life!

What tip can you give someone who is considering trying Nia for the first time?

Come with an open mind, forget all you know about exercise and your body, bring your beginner's mind and play!
