Nia Testimonial: Margaret, Nia Student
I'm a 50ish-year-old female who provides administrative support to executives in Chicago. It is a busy office, and I have a busy home life as well, with family and grandchildren. I'm a member of our neighborhood YMCA, which is where I was introduced to Nia and instructed by Valerie Beller, who an excellent teacher.
Why do you practice and/or teach Nia?
Valerie, my Nia instructor, introduced me to this wonderful experience. While I enjoy my Zumba, cardio kick boxing and weight classes, I felt there was something missing--but I didn't know what it was. I tried the YMCA machines and other classes, but found just the right fit when I took a Nia class. I've continued to take classes since my first day.
Nia is the perfect practice to complement my other classes. It provided a "freedom" that not only involves my body, but also my soul, spirit and mind. At the end of a Nia class, I feel energized and relaxed. Nia is wonderful, and would add to anyone's lifestyle and needs (physical, mental, spiritual or a combination of these). I recommend that everybody at least try a class and give it a chance. Those looking to free themselves of toxic feelings/emotions, or to rediscover their youthfulness, or to heal from within, should try a Nia class.
Where and with whom do you take Nia classes and/or trainings?
I take Nia clases at McCormick YMCA in Chicago. My instructor, Valerie, is fabulous.
What is one thing most people don't know about Nia?
Nia is good for you, and you'll feel great after you take a class.
What tip can you give someone who is considering trying Nia for the first time?
Go for it and don't stop after the first class. It gets better after each class.
