Nia Testimonial: Julius Gyula Szekely, Nia Teacher
I was born with a very special eye problem: a kind of cornea distrophy. Unfortunately it cannot be healed medically and it can get worse, ending with blindness. The disease came on slowly, later in my adult life. When I was younger, I grew up as a gymnast and acrobatic dancer and worked all over the world: Cirque de Soleil, Lido and Moulin Rouge in Paris, and lots of big cruise ships. I was also a fitness trainer, teaching all kind of aerobics, yoga, and Capoeira.
Regardless of my loss of eyesight, in the year 2000, I won the second World Fitness Championship with my "Tarzan routine." As time has gone by, I have lost most of my sight, but I believe we can all make our life magical regardless of physical disabilities. My vision does not pull me down. I feel happy! I have a reader machine, a magnifier that helps me see some color, and a dictation machine. However, I've learned to use all of my other senses, so nobody usually realizes that I can not see. For now I only see some lights and blury shadows, and sometimes not even that.
The gift I have been given from Nia is how to tap into all my senses so that I still feel alive and happy.
One of the hungarian newspaper wrote about me with this title:"We have found the hungarian Daredevil (a film with Ben Affleck) A blind Dance Teacher who is both Stuntman and Artist," So I suggest that we all can find our own way to live our life in happiness!
I found a new and happy life through movement and hope everyone finds the Joy of Movement through Nia.

Don't worry about the exact steps, just enjoy the movement.
