Nia Testimonial: Jennifer, Nia Student
A native New Yorker, I moved to St. Louis to attend Washington University. My degree is in Political Science, and I hold a minor in Women's Studies. After realizing that I was not interested in pursuing a career in the field of law, I began my training and career as a photojournalist.
Why do you practice and/or teach Nia?
I have no formal movement background, which was something that made me a bit uncomfortable. My dear friend (and now mentor in Nia), Tracy Stamper, invited me to dance with her many years ago. All my fears and discomfort quickly melted away. Tracy and Nia leave me with more agility and confidence, and honestly... I'm happier because of them both!
Where and with whom do you take Nia classes and/or trainings?
Tracy Stamper and at The Pilates + Yoga Studio in St. Louis.
What is one thing most people don't know about Nia?
That movement and exercise can = joy.
What tip can you give someone who is considering trying Nia for the first time?
Leave your fears at the door (I guess that can extend beyond Nia, too, huh?)
