I'm honored to create jewelry for Nia!
Why do you practice and/or teach Nia?
I teach Nia because it has literally healed my body and life!
In 2009, I was in the best shape of my life. Running daily, teaching pilates and yoga. I identified myself as a young, fit woman.
All that changed on March 19, 2009. I was crossing the street (in a crosswalk) and struck by a car going 28 mph. My body and confidence were shattered. The doctors put me back together with 9 intense surgeries. Then, I worked on healing myself through positive thought, yoga and laughter, not to mention my wonderfully supportive family! Months had passed and I was finally ready to venture outside my home. My son wanted me to go to a community dance at the church by our house. I was intimidated but knew I had to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. Lucky, for me the dance was actually being put on by a Nia teacher. I danced for the first time since the accident, and I felt the sensation of JOY throughout my body, mind and spirit. I burst into tears! I felt like I danced like an angel! I felt GOD in my body. I realized that dancing was fundamental to my healing and I started taking Nia classes immediately.
I admire Debbie, Carlos and the Nia tribe deeply! I'm tremendously grateful for this body of work. I continue to take trainings and pass on my love of Nia to my tribe; I feel blessed to be able to do so!
Thank you for helping heal my body NIA!
