Nia Testimonial: Eleanor Ball, Nia Student
I retired six years ago from Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, FL, where I worked as a Hospitality Manager. Currently, I am a volunteer at my church, Truvine Baptist. I also volunteer with many other organizations, including American Cancer Society, Gulfcoast South Area Health Education Center, Sarasota County Health Department - Disaster Relief, The Newtown Wellness Program and The Wellness Community.
Why do you practice and/or teach Nia?
I started Nia four months ago and since the first class, my quality of life has improved 100%. After having knee replacements three years ago in both knees, my walking was impaired. The day after my first Nia class, my walking had greatly improved. Four months later, I am able to walk properly, stand up straight and travel long distances with ease. My motto is, "Nia for Life."
Where and with whom do you take Nia classes and/or trainings?
My instructor is Mary Masi and she brings so much enery, excitment and caring to each and every class. I take the classes at a local community center, Robert E. Taylor Center, and the class is sponsored by Senior Friendship Center.
