Starting each day by setting a Focus and Intent helps guide you in knowing where to place your attention to create positive changes in your body and life.

At the beginning of each class, Nia Teachers set a Focus for the hour with the Intent to foster a specific result. Setting the Focus is a one to five-minute practice, during which time the Nia Teacher guides students to place their attention on a specific Focus. Throughout class, both students and Teacher use this Focus to achieve a desired outcome, or Intent.

Setting a Focus and Intent is a technique to empower you in reaching your goals, energizing and directing every choice, thought, and action toward the positive change you desire. You can use this same technique outside of class each day to set your body and life on the right track.

In this call you will learn:

• How and why martial artists use Focus and Intent to master their art
• How setting a daily Focus and Intent benefits your body-mind connection
• How the art of setting a Focus and Intent helps your life flow smoothly and your body move more elegantly
• How to know which Focus is right for you, based on your desires and goals
• How to choose a Focus and Intent for each day
• How to create a "body and life plan" to support positive change and transformation

More about your presentor -

Holly Curtis is an inspiring master teacher and trainer of the Nia Technique.  She began her practice of Nia in 1993, following 11 years in the fitness profession. She brings 26 years of experience in movement and fitness to her ongoing classes, workshops, and intensive trainings.  She holds a B.S. in Kinesiology, and an M.Ed. in Health Education from the University of Texas in Austin. Holly has been a Nia White Belt trainer since 1998 and has trained over 500 Nia teachers.   Holly is nationally recognized as one of the top Nia trainers and travels throughout the United States supporting and training Nia teachers.  Her experience and insight help create openings for all people to go deeper into the work.  She currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico where she teaches classes at the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet School and Santa Fe Community College. Holly hopes that Nia will help you discover your true self, heal your body, and live your life with joy and meaning, as it has for her.
