About the Nia White Belt
The Nia White Belt Training is the first level of a five-belt training series that presents a body-centered approach to health, wellness and fitness. If you have a desire to share Nia in a professional capacity, the White Belt Training is your entryway into teaching. Those who choose to pursue the path of personal enrichment use this training as a starting point for becoming a master student.
Over the course of one week, you will comprehensively explore physical sensation through five core-competency areas of study including movement, music, anatomy, science and philosophy. This joyful journey into the self is instrumental in helping you develop body knowing by learning to listen, interpret and consciously respond to the information your body communicates to you via sensation. Enroll in an upcoming training today, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.
Upon graduation, you are eligible to become a livelihood member. As a livelihood member, you obtain a teaching license (whether you decide to use it or not) and have exclusive access to an in-depth continuing education program, an online forum, and special benefits and privileges. You may enroll in the Green Belt Training - which is dedicated to the craft of teaching - at any time after completing your White Belt Training. You may also enroll in the next level of training, Blue Belt Training.
Meet the Trainers
I began my Nia adventure in June of 1997. It was a good fit with my weight management business. Eventually I sold the business and focused on growing the Nia and the Nia community of Wisconsin. It has been such a gift to meet so many people that believe in the power of manifestation, Joyful living, and the importance of community. I have taught in many venues, with numerous populations, and generally teach 8-12 classes a week. I continue to grow personally and professionally. In 2010, I became a Nia faculty member. In addition to teaching classes, I conduct 4-6 white belt trainings a year. It is my delight to share the first layer of Nia education with people. There is so much JOY that happens. Nia expands my capacity to sense Joy in all moments in my life. To me, Nia is Mindful Movement with cardio benefits. Be present, be comfortable, and stretch your boundries in a safe space. Through movement we find health......mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health. Join me!
I have been passionate about educating humanity to help heal the world through the dance of Nia since 1995. I have been training Nia to teachers since 2002, first in Idaho and now worldwide. I have found over the years of training, that the Nia practice has generated an even stronger intention of Peace on Earth inside me. Not that I have to love or save everyone, but create an positive environment for individuals to be transported while getting a great workout no matter what their age or ability. Nia is an international language, like nature is. -It is the language of sensation or words without words, an alchemical formula for magic! I will forever continue to share the joy and love of movement with all ages, playfully and energetically! My mantra: I am, therefore I teach.
