Nia White Belt Training
April 3, 2014 The Joy of Movement at Chatham Mills in Pittsboro, NC, US
About the Nia White Belt
The Nia White Belt Training is the first level of a five-belt training series that presents a body-centered approach to health, wellness and fitness. If you have a desire to share Nia in a professional capacity, the White Belt Training is your entryway into teaching. Those who choose to pursue the path of personal enrichment use this training as a starting point for becoming a master student.
Over the course of one week, you will comprehensively explore physical sensation through five core-competency areas of study including movement, music, anatomy, science and philosophy. This joyful journey into the self is instrumental in helping you develop body knowing by learning to listen, interpret and consciously respond to the information your body communicates to you via sensation. Enroll in an upcoming training today, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.
Upon graduation, you are eligible to become a livelihood member. As a livelihood member, you obtain a teaching license (whether you decide to use it or not) and have exclusive access to an in-depth continuing education program, an online forum, and special benefits and privileges. You may enroll in the Green Belt Training - which is dedicated to the craft of teaching - at any time after completing your White Belt Training. You may also enroll in the next level of training, Blue Belt Training.
Meet the Trainer
A professional actor for over 30 years, Kate Finlayson found Nia in 2005 after several years of chronic pain, frozen shoulders and low energy. "Nia connected me directly to an internal source of Joy, and my life has changed radically!"
When the music played and her body began to dance in rhythmic flow, she knew she was Home. Her journey has brought self-healing and self acceptance, patience, deep conditioning, weight loss and powerful life-force energy! After taking classes for 3 months, she trained with Stephaney Robinson-Abilon, became a White Belt teacher in the Chapel Hill-Durham, NC area and joined Triangle Nia, a fabulous community of Nia professionals. After Blue Belt training with Debbie and Carlos in Asheville, she started on her dream path creating her business “Nature Nia”, bringing her enthusiasm of the natural world, birds, acting and Nia together. Brown Belt in Portland brought Nia Nicaragua into reality, dancing at 4,000 feet in the rainforest with a fabulous group from North Carolina. Kate loves teaching Nia and brings this passion to all her classes, jams, playshops, past Nia trips to Nicaragua, Brazil and Greece, and now to her White Belt Trainings. She is honored to be a First Degree Black Belt teacher and a Nia Trainer fulfilling her dream of sharing Nia with the world. She has returned to her home in the beautiful North Carolina Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill Triangle after three years teaching and training in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. Bon Temps Rouler!
