What is Nia?

Nia is a sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Classes are taken barefoot to soul-stirring music in more than 45 countries. Trainings are designed for those seeking personal enrichment and professional development. Every experience can be adapted to individual needs and abilities. Step into your own joyful journey with Nia, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.

How does Nia work?

Nia draws from Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, jazz dance, modern dance, Duncan dance, yoga, Alexander Technique and Teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais. Every class offers a unique combination of 52 moves that correspond with the main areas of the body: the base, the core and the upper extremities. Stiff beginners and highly fit athletes alike can adapt Nia to meet their needs by choosing from three intensity levels. Moving To Heal

Enjoy soft music and easy-to-follow choreography in a supportive atmosphere of safety and trust.

You will personalise the movement to fit your body’s way, while focusing on pleasure, resulting in improved overall feelings of wellness, regardless of current physical/medical condition.

Elements of Nia 5 stages of healing will be integrated into this class to stimulate your sensory IQ and awaken body awareness .

The Nia 5 stages is an integrative movement practice based on the five stages of human development:

Embryonic, Creeping, Crawling, Standing and Walking.

It is a deceptively simple and powerful practice for optimal alignment, improved function and comfort in the body. 

No previous experiece needed.

Nia is a group movement class that fuses movement from the martial arts, dance arts and healing arts to deliver the promise of integrating mind/body/spirit through sensation. Nia is a multi-dimensional practice of The Body’s Way intended to enhance conditioning of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual realms of our bodies and to encourage individual and community expressivity through body awareness.

All levels are welcome.

Your Body~Your Temple: Step out of the busy-ness of your every day routine and feel tension melt away as you relax into a blissful sanctuary in the heart of Bali.  Join International Nia Trainer Sophie Marsh and Nia Black Belt Taryn Pallister for a nurturing and life-enriching retreat, to connect deeply with yourself in beautiful natural surroundings. 

Enter a sacred and supportive space for purposeful transformation through conscious movement - 6 days of daily Nia, gentle yoga, meditation, Nia 5 Stages, a shamanic dance journey and meaningful rituals with plenty of time for pampering and cultural exploration.

Be lovingly guided to relax into the flow of your body's unique rhythm, reconnect with your heart and reclaim your relationship with your inner wisdom to experience more pleasure, power and Joy in your body + life.  

Beginners welcome. No prior Nia or yoga experience is necessary! 

Includes: 6 nights deluxe twin share accommodation at Naya Resort, 3 nourishing organic vegetarian meals daily, all movement and meditation classes, arrival transfer to Naya, 1 hour massage, ozone swimming pool, and Balinese dance performance.  

About Naya Resort: This retreat is nestled within an emerald sea of rice paddies just 10 minutes from the center of Ubud. At Naya's Rainbow Villas, each has its own verandah, private garden with fishpond, twin beds in the bedrooms for single or double occupancy, Chakra themed rooms, fan, optional portable air conditioning, and sunset views. Naya pride themselves on "sourcing garden fresh local organic produce daily".

About your facilitators:  
Taryn Pallister - Taryn's passion is creating space for self-liberation through conscious embodiment and authentic expression. Her own spirited journey to find freedom in herself inspired her to travel around the world training in many modalities including: Nia (Black Belt), Nia 5 Stages teacher, Yoga teacher, Dancing Freedom Inspired teacher, Kahuna Bodywork and Remedial massage. She is an experienced retreat facilitator as well as offering a range of classes on a weekly basis to Australia's largest and most awarded spa location and classes in the Gold Coast, Kingscliff and Byron Bay communities.

Sophie Marsh - Sophie is a somatic educator, community builder and wellness coach. Australia's only Nia White Belt Trainer, Sophie brings a depth of experience, compassion and grace to her Nia classes, playshops, retreats and trainings. Her passionate energy is contagious and she inspires people of all ages and walks of life to nurture, trust and understand their innate body wisdom as a path to self-love. She shares Nia as both a life-enriching practice and as movement medicine for healing and enlivening the body, mind, spirit and heart. Sophie brings over 20 years studying and sharing self-mastery techniques, holistic movement, energy healing, sensuous embodiment and sacred feminine practices.
