About the Nia White Belt
The Nia White Belt Training is the first level of a five-belt training series that presents a body-centered approach to health, wellness and fitness. If you have a desire to share Nia in a professional capacity, the White Belt Training is your entryway into teaching. Those who choose to pursue the path of personal enrichment use this training as a starting point for becoming a master student.
Over the course of one week, you will comprehensively explore physical sensation through five core-competency areas of study including movement, music, anatomy, science and philosophy. This joyful journey into the self is instrumental in helping you develop body knowing by learning to listen, interpret and consciously respond to the information your body communicates to you via sensation. Enroll in an upcoming training today, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.
Upon graduation, you are eligible to become a livelihood member. As a livelihood member, you obtain a teaching license (whether you decide to use it or not) and have exclusive access to an in-depth continuing education program, an online forum, and special benefits and privileges. You may enroll in the Green Belt Training - which is dedicated to the craft of teaching - at any time after completing your White Belt Training. You may also enroll in the next level of training, Blue Belt Training.

"Dance Your Heart Out!" responding to the call, I stepped in...
It was July 2000 when a life changing, startling event dropped me into my body. Time slowed down. Each conversation felt electric, every event & activity had expanded value. At the time I called this phenomenon "the grief process". I've since experienced through Nia Technique practices that living my life aware of information provided by my BODY, is full of amazing sensations! As I have learned to listen to the wisdom of my own body's information, these sensations have guided me towards health, fitness, well-being and healing.
"Dance Your Heart Out!" ... I heard the suggestion from my therapist and grief counselor loud and clear.
In 2003 I took my first Nia class as a way to relieve stress. Responding to a deep inner knowing to share Nia with others I completed the Nia White Belt Intensive in March 2005. A short time later, home visiting my Father in the house I grew up in, I retrieved from the wall of my childhood bedroom a hand sized piece of lined paper. Written in calligraphy on that thin, yellowed parchment, by a young girl many moons ago, were the words: "Dance Your Heart Out!"
Practicing Nia principles in and out of the classroom has changed me. Oh, I'm the same Julie you may have known before I discovered Nia, and today I'm mentally, physically, and emotionally more agile, stronger, certainly much more flexible, self-assured, more open and sensitive. I know my list of "shifts" will go on and on as I continue to evolve as a woman, a student, a teacher, a healer, a wife, a lover, a friend, a leader, a daughter....
As a Nia teacher, I find as much satisfaction in watching Nia students grow and change as I do in introducing Nia to students for the first time! As a Nia trainer I am invigorated by the somatic learning process used in trainings to learn & embody Nia Technique for the enhancement of YOUR lifestyle!
