About the Nia White Belt
The Nia White Belt Training is the first level of a five-belt training series that presents a body-centered approach to health, wellness and fitness. If you have a desire to share Nia in a professional capacity, the White Belt Training is your entryway into teaching. Those who choose to pursue the path of personal enrichment use this training as a starting point for becoming a master student.
Over the course of one week, you will comprehensively explore physical sensation through five core-competency areas of study including movement, music, anatomy, science and philosophy. This joyful journey into the self is instrumental in helping you develop body knowing by learning to listen, interpret and consciously respond to the information your body communicates to you via sensation. Enroll in an upcoming training today, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.
Upon graduation, you are eligible to become a livelihood member. As a livelihood member, you obtain a teaching license (whether you decide to use it or not) and have exclusive access to an in-depth continuing education program, an online forum, and special benefits and privileges. You may enroll in the Green Belt Training - which is dedicated to the craft of teaching - at any time after completing your White Belt Training. You may also enroll in the next level of training, Blue Belt Training.
Meet the Trainer
Shaky-Jake Finds Her Groove
Endless foot tapping and arm swinging earned Jill the family nickname Shaky-Jake,– “the one who couldn’t stop moving”. And that has proved true for the last four decades:
- Moving in 1984, decked out in leg warmers and a head band exercising to Jane Fonda’s workout tapes.
- Moving in college dance class despite the ballet instructor saying she had a lousy point to her foot.
- Moving for 10 years as a professional “aerobic instructor” bounding with endless enthusiasm for her class yet plenty of repetitive stress injuries.
- Moving and studying cutting edge alternative forms like Pilates, Bartenieff Fundamentals, Yoga and post-rehab exercise, before mainstream fitness recognized their benefit.
These moments of movement led Jill to the perfect career path of continually discovering the Joy of Movement. Teaching fitness and movement since 1985, Jill has racked up certifications, been featured in regional magazines and Seattle local television. She’s moved beyond the 10,000 hour mark of expertise within traditional fitness and mind/body somatic movement. Her passionate approach inspires those who say “no” to the drudgery of working out and “yes” to the pleasure of moving with mind-body-self connection.
A Nia teacher since 1996 and becoming a Nia Faculty Trainer in 2012, Jill is dedicated to helping people feel better via “integrated conditioning” — blending the science of the body, conscious movement & self-care within their body, mind, emotions and spirit. Integrated conditioning helps people remove pain, increase athletic performance and optimize everyday joy & wellness. In 2013, Jill opened The Center for Movement & Healing in Seattle Washington thus attracting a community of people who want to Center.Move and Heal.
Comfortable presenting and teaching to large groups or small individualized sessions, Jill combines her in-depth experience with contagious delight for the human body and an authentic compassionate communication-style.

Notes About this Training

Join Jill at The Center for Movement & Healing in West Seattle for a split-week White Belt Training. The split-week training is divided into two long weekends (Feb. 14-17th and Feb. 22-24th) giving you the opportunity to digest training material and maintain work/home schedule. . This split week training start on Thursday afternoon -Sunday (of weekend #1) and Friday-Sunday (weekend #2).
