The Cincinnati Bengals travel to the nation’s capital to take on the Washington Redskins at FedExField on Thursday night (7:30 p.m. ET, streaming live on NFL Game Pass).

Cincinnati is coming off a 38–17 preseason loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Redskins were defeated, 30–10, by the Cleveland Browns in last week’s preseason game.

These games don’t count, but playing time and jobs are on the line.

Here are three things to watch for in the Bengals’ second preseason contest:

Andy Dalton, starters to see more action

First-stringers will see more action Thursday night in D.C. Starters generally get their second-highest snap count of the preseason in exhibition game №2.

Andy Dalton and the Bengals’ first-unit offense had a successful debut in Kansas City. They converted three first downs during a 14-play touchdown drive. That was accomplished without Joe Mixon, A.J. Green and Tyler Eifert in the lineup.

“We feel like we have depth on this team. We feel like we have talent. For us to be without some of our starters, I thought we did a great job,” Dalton said in the locker room after the first preseason game.

Granted, the Chiefs’ ineptitude on defense is a major reason why they lost to the New England Patriots in last year’s AFC Championship Game. The Chiefs ranked №31 in total defense in 2018. Cincinnati was the only team worse.
