The Nia Green Belt 'Art of Teaching' is a somatic teaching, teacher-focused training program that began in 2008, with a focus and intent to help Nia belt graduates become extraordinary Nia teachers. All Nia Green Belt Trainers are graduates of the entire Nia Belt curriculum program, and part of the Nia Training Faculty. Green Belt trainings occur over five days, and varied schedules are offered throughout the U.S. and in Europe.

The ultimate goal of Green Belt is to condition the Nia teacher’s body, brain and nervous system to provide a path to dynamically listen, dance, teach and share Nia with ease and relaxation. The training approach, individual and community-oriented, emphasizes the importance of creating healthy relationships with everyone, your trainers and your peers. At the Green Belt training, you will have plenty of time to practice teaching and to learn how to make the experience of sharing the joy of Nia joyful.

Laurie is a creative mover, athlete, artist, yogi and member of the Nia Training Faculty as a White Belt and Nia 5 Stages Trainer. Her education includes degrees in Mathematics and Psychology from Pacific University. Laurie lives near Portland, Oregon, home to the NiaStudio - international headquarters and training facility for the Nia Technique - where she teaches classes, workshops and trainings. She travels internationally to communities in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Europe. She passionately shares the pleasure, power, grace and sense of self-discovery that Nia offers people of all ages.

Laurie is a ‘Joy Revolutionary’ who loves that Nia offers people of all ages a pathway to self-healing, fitness, body education and self-discovery.  Nia played a key role in the healing of chronic pain, tendonitis and fatigue accumulated through athletic injury (knee and shoulder surgery) and entrepreneurial stress. It taught her to listen to the voice of her body. She acquired skills as a life coach, trained as a yoga teacher, Nia teacher and now globe trotting Nia Trainer.  Her classes, workshops and trainings are filled with passion, fun, grace, creativity, skill, acceptance and powerful presence.

Nia classes are for every body. Students leave feeling re-energized, grounded, empowered and connected after class.  Nia Trainings are for every body - people leave with deeper sense of body knowledge and transformed. Isn’t it time you step in? I’d love to lead your joy revolution.
