What is Nia?
Nia draws from martial, dance and the healing arts creating a mindful movement practice that is sensory based. Nia is for anyBODY and no experience is needed. It is typically danced barefoot and to soul stirring music from around the world.

Tristin Campbell will be guiding us in our Nia practice. She has been teaching for over 7 years and currently offers classes in Nanaimo and Qualicum Beach. You can find all of her class info, more about her and The Nia Technique at

If you feel that Yoga is how you would like to start your day Cathy Skelcher will be guiding a Yoga class at the same time as Nia in the morning in the space upstairs.

In the afternoon Cathy will be guiding us in gentle Hatha/Yin Yoga in the main hall. Cathy has been practicing Yoga for over a decade and works out of her home studio. She offers many different classes and workshops and is a life coach. You can find more info about Cathy and all that she offers at

Mia Tremblay will be guiding us in Loving-Awareness and Loving-Kindness meditation throughout the day. She will do so in the main hall and as well up in the smaller room while Nia is happening in the afternoon.

Mia has been intensively practicing Vipassana Meditation for almost 25 years. Vipassana meditation is Insight, Mindfulness and Loving-Kindness based. Mia is also trained in Art Therapy and the Expressive Therapies which goes hand and hand with her meditation practice. You can find more about Mia and her practice at

About Nia

What is Nia?

Nia is a sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Classes are taken barefoot to soul-stirring music in more than 45 countries. Trainings are designed for those seeking personal enrichment and professional development. Every experience can be adapted to individual needs and abilities. Step into your own joyful journey with Nia, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.

How does Nia work?

Nia draws from Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, jazz dance, modern dance, Duncan dance, yoga, Alexander Technique and Teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais. Every class offers a unique combination of 52 moves that correspond with the main areas of the body: the base, the core and the upper extremities. Stiff beginners and highly fit athletes alike can adapt Nia to meet their needs by choosing from three intensity levels. Consecutive trainings collectively explore 52 principles for personal enrichment and professional development. Read testimonials from people of all ages, backgrounds and locations.

Why was Nia created?

Nia’s purpose is to grow a worldwide community of healthy people who are empowered to do great things. We believe every person can discover, explore, unleash and enhance their individual potential to live a fulfilling and meaningful life – by engaging their senses and listening to their bodies. With the right tools and education, we can increase our confidence and happiness. We can become connected to others to shape a consciousness that extends beyond our own. Together we will unearth possibilities never before imagined.
