Inspired by the tarot card of the Star and choreographed to the language of Nia, Hope is an invitation to expand our yearning for peace and healing.

The focus of Hope is the upper extremities. The intent is to use the arms and hands to express our emotions. Make every expression of the upper extremities one of active hope.

This body of work was choreographed by Jennifer Lucero-Earle, First Degree Black Belt and creator of ArcanaDance™, and fuses the language of Nia with the embodied archetypal storytelling of tarot. This journey into universal and personal consciousness is one of a kind. *This is not an official or endorsed Nia routine. It is a creation of my own.

Hope is a 60-minute class that can standalone or be experienced alongside ArcanaDance™: Dancing for Hope & Healing with Tarot, Movement & Sound

An inspiring, fun playshop combining music, dance, movement creativity and art
Designed to help you develop illustrative concepts based in personal story and metaphor
With Nia First Degree Black Belt Teacher, visual arts educator and Theoria resident artist, Randee Fox

I am excited to be offering four monthly Nia/Art storytelling PlayShops at the historic and beautiful Theoria Gallery, where my own art studio/gallery is located in Georgetown, South Seattle neighborhood. The gallery has a huge and lovely space for us to dance on second floor with gorgeous wood floors and natural light! The urban and artsy neighborhood of Georgetown is full of galleries and artists with great little funky places to explore and eat. And there is easy and free parking right next to the gallery. We will start with a guided Nia FreeDance class with the intent to pull out our stories. Then a lunch break and three hours of creating imagery in playful and inspiring way using our own stories and metaphor.

First one is Saturday, June 15. Illustrative Concepts is what I taught at Austin College for four years as adjunct arts professor. I am excited about combining this, first time, with Nia in Seattle! To register, email randeefox@gmail.com.

About Nia

What is Nia?

Nia is a sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Classes are taken barefoot to soul-stirring music in more than 45 countries. Trainings are designed for those seeking personal enrichment and professional development. Every experience can be adapted to individual needs and abilities. Step into your own joyful journey with Nia, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.

How does Nia work?

Nia draws from Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, jazz dance, modern dance, Duncan dance, yoga, Alexander Technique and Teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais. Every class offers a unique combination of 52 moves that correspond with the main areas of the body: the base, the core and the upper extremities. Stiff beginners and highly fit athletes alike can adapt Nia to meet their needs by choosing from three intensity levels. Consecutive trainings collectively explore 52 principles for personal enrichment and professional development. Read testimonials from people of all ages, backgrounds and locations.

Why was Nia created?

Nia’s purpose is to grow a worldwide community of healthy people who are empowered to do great things. We believe every person can discover, explore, unleash and enhance their individual potential to live a fulfilling and meaningful life – by engaging their senses and listening to their bodies. With the right tools and education, we can increase our confidence and happiness. We can become connected to others to shape a consciousness that extends beyond our own. Together we will unearth possibilities never before imagined.
