The Emotive Movement workshop is going to be an exploration of the body-emotion connection using music and dance and will be guided by the Nia FreeDance principles. The workshop will be 3 hours of exploration ending with a 50 minute Nia class to put into practice what we have explored and embodied.

Who should attend:

Those who want a better understanding of the role of emotion and it's repercussions in the body
Those who want more freedom to feel and express their emotions in a safe and playful way
Those who want to find more authenticity and creativity in movement
Artists, dancers, Nia-nites, physical educators...movement creatives!

This class is an OPEN class - no previous experience is needed in any discipline - just come with an open mind and be prepared to move and be moved.If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me and feel free to pass on this information to anyone else who might be interested!

Recover Peace, Presence & Joy

The aim of the workshop is to give you a deeper understanding of your body, using movement as a way to bring awareness. The workshop will include free-form moving, using a variety of stimuli to inspire new ways of movement and thus bring more exploration and greater awareness to parts of your body, you may not have been conscious of. 


Through this increased body awareness, your experience of Nia and your sense of peace, joy and presence beyond the classroom, will be greatly enhanced.  Time to step in...

How does Nia work?

Nia draws from Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, jazz dance, modern dance, Duncan dance, yoga, Alexander Technique and Teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais. Stiff beginners and highly fit athletes alike can adapt Nia to meet their needs by choosing from three intensity levels.
