Lucie Beaudry

LaSalle, Montréal, QC, Canada

Lucie Beaudry holds a master’s degree in dance and a post-graduate degree in somatic education (Feldenkrais Method) from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) as well as a certificate in expressive arts therapy from the Tamalpa Institute in California. At Tamalpa, she had the opportunity to study Movement Ritual with its creator Anna Halprin whose work draws, among others, on the Moshe Feldenkrais Method. She also explored the manual practice developed by Feldenkrais during a one-year course at the Feldenkrais Institute for the Study of Somatic Education. She is starting an interdisciplinary doctorate in health and society at UQAM along with a research project that combines somatic education and dance/movement therapy in the post-stroke rehabilitation context.

Her professional practice is based on the pedagogy developed by Feldenkrais and on the self-awareness through movement that it advocates. Her explorations have enabled her to develop an expertise closely linked to the field of somatics where the approach to the person is holistic. She regularly holds group classes, thematic workshops, seminars within enterprises and she works with a varied clientele. Her current practice also includes work with seniors and stroke victims.

Lucie is a member of the following groups : International Somatic Movement Education & Therapy (ISMETA), Association Feldenkrais Québec (AFQ), Regroupement pour l’éducation somatique (RES), Association des Naturothérapeutes du Québec (ANQ) and Dance Movement Therapy Association in Canada (DMTAC)

Lucie Beaudry was awarded various scholarships throughout her post-graduate studies at l’Université du Québec à Montréal. She has received praise for both her academic excellence, and her Masters Thesis at the university level (MELS/Mobilité internationale scholarship, in 2009), within her Faculty (FARE/Fondation de l’UQÀM scholarship, 2008 and 2009) as well as at the provincial level (Fondation Desjardin’s Girardin-Vaillancourt for “Humanities and Arts” scholarship, in 2009). She has been awarded the recruitment scholarship of the faculty of humanities for her doctoral studies starting this fall.
