Summer classes end August 6th. Fall classes begin mid-September, please check back!!
Nia feeds my sense of magic and mystery of living in a human body. The regular practice of Nia brings vitality, creativity and inspiration to all areas of my life. Twenty years ago, I was a college athlete and long-distance swimmer. I discovered Nia out of convenience when my kids were babies and I didn't have time to train for long swims and my post-partum body felt worn out by running. I discovered that Nia radically transformed my ideas of "working out" into the quest to experience joy in all of my movements, throughout all of my life. I am healthier than I have ever been and my joints and nervous system look forward to many more decades of gentle dance, intense cleansing sweat, true cardiovascular health and a sustainable approach to healthy living.
I started dancing Nia in 2007 and completed my White Belt teacher training in the summer of 2011 before moving from New Mexico, where I danced in a vibrant Nia community, to Philadelphia, where I am actively working toward building one. I completed the Blue Belt in March 2014.
In the fall, I will again offer classes through Mt. Airy Learning Tree and I will begin offering free classes at the Cancer Support Community of Philadelphia for people whose lives are affected by cancer. Check back here in September for those schedules.
Come dance with me!
