Nia feeds my sense of magic and mystery of living in a human body. The regular practice of Nia brings vitality, creativity and inspiration to all areas of my life. Twenty years ago, I was a college athlete and long-distance swimmer. I discovered Nia out of convenience when my kids were babies and I didn't have time to train for long swims and my post-partum body felt worn out by running. I discovered that Nia radically transformed my ideas of "working out" into the quest to experience joy in all of my movements throughout all of my life. I am healthier than I have ever been and my joints and nervous system look forward to many more decades of gentle dance, intense cleansing sweat, true cardiovascular health and a sustainable approach to healthy living.
I started dancing Nia in 2007 and completed my White Belt teacher training in the summer of 2011 before moving from New Mexico, where I danced in a vibrant Nia community, to Philadelphia, where I am actively working toward building one. I completed the Blue Belt in March 2014.
Come dance with me!
