Born in San Rafael, California and raised in New York, I bring the best of both worlds with me; the serenity of nature with the street smarts of the city.
My journey to Nia has been in the making, what seems like my entire life. My soul and spirit felt like it was truly "stuck", with no direction, no Joy. All that would change March of 2013. I tried my first Nia class after much procrastination, to discover what I was looking for. By the end of class I was filled with such energy and happiness that I wanted to share this with the world. I was hooked! I signed up for my White Belt Intensive with the amazing Kate Finlayson, Black Belt Instructor and Nia Trainer; at the Joy of Movement Studio in beautiful Pittsboro, NC and I received my White Belt in July 2013. I have been teaching for a year now, though for me feels it like a lifetime. The dance, healing and martial arts took my breath away. I have never looked back since.
Nia has helped in so many ways, reconnecting to self, having more awareness about the body and what feels right. My style of Nia is unique, tapping into my genuine love of the human connection and sharing a jazzy, infectious nature, which is infectious for students of any age.
Movement is my meditation, my way of centering. I believe we are all the car singer, the last person on the dance floor, moving and grooving to the worlds song…we just need to let go of our minds and be present in our awesomeness…listen, the world is playing your favorite song!
