I have been dancing Nia for twelve years. From the very beginning Nia was different from any fitness form I'd ever tried. I went from consciously exercising to consciously moving. Nia gave me the freedom to explore movement and expression in dance! I found that through dancing I was awakening body awareness, developing better posture and stronger hips, as I was learning to listen to my body while moving in rhythm, with the added bonus of overall body strengthening and toning through isometric movements.
My desire to practice The Nia Technique, to move and feel with and through my body, has continued to grow because of the eclectic music and the diverse choreographed routines. The fusion of dance arts, martial arts and healing arts encourages me to express emotions in dance in a way that is cathartic and stress relieving, while at the same time it's a great cardiovascular workout and Always Joyful.
