I found Nia during one of the biggest turning points of my life.

I had my whole life planned as a  high-powered Corporate HR Executive and ten years into my career I was met with a mass workforce restructuring.  In short, I was laid off!  The life I planned for myself started to unravel and I started questioning everything.

It was during this time, my friend told me to try Nia. I must admit the first time I tried Nia, I didn't love it.  I was used to body beating work-outs with a drill sergeant type yelling at me. I thought that was the only way workouts were effective – “to beat your body into shape." I had never been giving permission to "move my body's way" or to tune into my body's intrinsic wisdom. Yet, after each Nia class, I was feeling exhilarated and renewed and I kept coming back for more. The inspiring music, the encouraging teacher, and the students felt like a "welcome home" to me. Nia became the community I was so desperately craving.

Then something really exciting happened. I earned a scholarship to attend a Nia retreat in glorious Mexico! People from all over the world attended and I met a woman who was there because of her chronic pain, depression and fatigue.  As she danced Nia, I observed her changing in her body and spirit. In the middle of the retreat she told me, "dancing Nia is healing me and I am returning home." With her words, "dancing Nia is healing me," I knew instantly I needed to bring Nia to more people.  I had already earned a Master’s Degree, and a Coaching Certification. I spent a lot of time in my head trying to heal my body - I tried to intellectualize my way into healing.  Yet, with Nia I realized the importance of getting out of my head and into my body. Nia taught me to tune into the messages my body was sending me.

Shortly after that retreat, I earned my Nia White Belt Certification and WOWZA my life changed completely. If you've ever heard the quote “good things fall apart, so that better things can fall together,” that happened to me.  I was so grateful that the life I planned fell apart, so that I could find the life that was waiting for me. The White Belt training inspired me to found my company, AbunDANCE Wellness Coaching...."healing through movement," where I help women with no time - hectic schedules, find time to move, eat well, sleep well, and most importantly I help women get more joy out of life.

Thank you for reading about my journey. I am so excited to dance with you and learn more about you and your journey!

Please contact me with questions, or if you need help registering for classes. I look forward to moving and grooving with you!
