Daniela Bell began her Nia journey in 2002, while she was a Biology graduate student in Charlottesville, VA. For some time she had been searching for a fun, energizing alternative to the traditional gym workout. She took her first Nia class on a whim, after hearing a Yoga teacher talk about it. She couldn't believe what a blast she had during that first seminal Nia hour. The Nia Technique was a revelation to her. Nia allowed her to raise her heart rate, condition her muscles, and be healthier while having fun, allowing her to build a more meaningful and positive relationship to her body. Her creative side, long dormant, was given a chance to come alive. She found that Nia's non-competitive nature freed her to find joy in her own body's way. During the time she was committed to a life as an academic, being a student of Nia brought a much-needed respite, a time to re-connect with her body and let go of the stress and mental intensity of academia.
In 2006 Daniela decided to leave academia and dedicate herself to helping people find joy, health, and fitness through the creative use of movement. Since taking the White Belt Intensive, she has been devoting her time to bringing Nia to more and more people in the Twin Cities, as well as raising a little girl to love dancing, music and moving in her own way! Daniela continues to pursue personal change in all her bodies- physical, mind, spirit, and emotional- and to encourage those changes in others. She is thrilled to share the journey with fellow students of Nia.
