Dael Parsons

Nia First Degree Black Belt Teacher
Eugene, Oregon, United States

I have been a "Nia-phyte" since the end of the first Nia class I attended in Eugene, Oregon in 2004.  I walked into that class on the recommendation of a friend and walked out, no floated out, sensing that I had come home.  Later that week, I had a lucid dream in which I was being born on a dance floor.  At first the floor was hard and cold, then I was swept lovingly into many arms and welcomed.  True story.

In 2013, I attended the White Belt training for the first time.  It was held at Nia headquarters in Portland and co-taught by Debbie Rosas and Casey Bernstein.  I don't think there was any way to prepare for what a deeply profound experience that was.  The content, the teaching, the space, the GROUP, all beyond my highest hopes.

I returned to Eugene, eager to point myself in the direction of teaching.  So much time, focus, energy and love has gone into this endeavor in the last three years.  Currently I am teaching twice a week in Eugene, Oregon while maintaining a very busy bodywork practice as a Myofascial Release therapist.  Teaching occupies my heart and mind most waking - and some sleeping- moments.  There are so many ways to expand and improve!  I will never be finished.

Last year I immersed myself in the study of Alexander Technique, one of Nia's 9 movement forms.  It fuels my love for teaching and sharing Nia by expanding my understanding and embodiment of ease and joy in movement.

Recently (August, 2016) I took the "Moving to Heal" training at Nia Headquarters with Debbie Rosas.  An intensive apprenticeship follows the training.

(September, 2016)  I have just returned from the life altering experience of the Nia BLACK BELT training with Debbie Rosas and Ann Christianson. The beautiful process of assimilation has begun. I expect this to be an amazing year of dancing, teaching and sharing THE JOY of MOVEMENT.

(October, 2018)  The First Degree Black Belt training, in Portland with Nia creator and Master, Debbie Rosas takes us on a journey into the art of Self.  Humbling, expanding, inspiring.

I would love to meet you out on the dance floor and share the practice of Nia with you!

love,

Dael
