I was born and grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Inspired by my older son’s extreme disabilities and absolute failure of Western Medicine to help him, I decided to pursue alternative energy studies. After a long search, in 1995 I enrolled at the Energy Mastery School taught by Dr. Robert Jaffee. At Energy Mastery School I learned about the body, how it works, it's neuromuscular connections and the energetic aspects of healing—all through hands on, daily therapy and exercises. There I also learned about the spiritual and emotional aspects of energy that make up our reality.
In 1997 I moved from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Santa Fe, NM and married Solomon Hill.
Three years after my second son, Luca was born I had a serious health crash, I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. My trust in Spirit was severely shaken. I was bedridden for about 3 months unable to take care of my family. Slowly, my knowledge from EMS gave me the the insights and awareness and guidance to deal with chronic Lyme. Using only alternative methods I was strong enough 10 months later to support my husband in his desire to follow his passion and go study photography. We moved to Santa Barbara, CA. After a couple of months I realized I had emerged from my health crisis, had supported my husband, had moved to another state and my daily life was full of pain and extreme fatigue and depression.
As I realized this I started searching and listening to my heart again. I began listening to what made me happy, what brought me joy. I did a wonderful workshop about "Intuition and Exercise" and soon after, on a trip back to Santa Fe a friend invited me to a Nia class with Kelle Rae Oien. That week I did three classes with Kelle Rae. These classes were life changing. Never had I felt such Joy, such presence of Spirit, such aliveness in my body. I was moved to tears. I did not feel fatigued, I did not feel pain when I danced Nia. I knew that Nia had entered my life as my path back to a Joyful and embodied life. Spirit was showing me my healing path through awareness of my own Body. I realized that the Awareness of my Body had been the missing link. From the birth of my first disabled son it had all been about the Body, Embodying the Soul through the Body. Then Lyme disease was a reminder for me to get back on my personal growth path of learning about embodiment - living with spirit in this body.
Through Nia I have been reclaiming my relationship with my body, my femininity, my health and my connection to Spirit. Being in my body, listening to it on a daily basis, honoring its limits has brought me to a deeper connection with myself. Being connected to myself I can better connect with those around me. I can better danc ethrough life and all it's ups and downs.
It is with deep gratitude that I share my learning now with others. Being a Nia teacher has enabled me to be the healer I was meant to be.
I am specially excited at my new Nia Dance- Heal your Body classes. The Moving to Heal training is exactly where I wanted to go with Nia.
