I have been a dedicated fitness professional since 1984, primarily teaching in college and university settings. Being a fitness fanatic I really thought I was enjoying fitness at its finest, then in 2006, I met Nia. It is through practicing Nia that I am now experiencing joyful movement, and aware of the power within free spirited playful activity. Nia has opened my eyes to the great potential of holistic fitness, and the importance of integrating mind, body, and spirit, rather than focusing on the physical body alone. What I love and embrace about the Nia practice is that it celebrates each individual, helping them move towards fitness and health in their own unique way. I have witnessed incredible changes in myself, and in my students, including increased self-esteem, self-expression, relaxation, creativity, power, grace, and of course enhanced overall fitness.
Kathy is a Black Belt and Nia 5 Stages Instructor, has an M.S. in Exercise Science, a B. A. in Psychology, & currently teaches a variety of group fitness classes including Nia, at Moorpark College, and the Ventura Nia Center.
