I am probably the oldest active Nia Teacher, having been born in 1933. I started Nia classes in 1990, took my White Belt in 2001 and went on through all the Belts and am now a Black Belt Nia Teacher. I also teach Nia 5 Stages, Yoga, Gentle Ways to Fitness and Stretch Classes. I teach all ages. Seniors identify with me and want to be like me. Younger students want to be like me when they get to be my age. I am generally happy to be me, especially since I do Nia! I enjoy taking classes at the Nia Studio in Portland, OR and elsewhere when I travel. My previous experience as a professional dancer and actress helps me to spread the word. I'm still "acting" on my cable network TV series - "The Gentle Ways to Fitness." I developed a combination workshop,"TheaNia" combining Nia and theater technique. Oh yes, I am also a writer and editor. Words and the combination of them are my passion. Another passion is traveling. My latest journey was to India to take "Nia in India" with Sabine, Philippe and Danielle. Heaven!
It's all about JOY, and LOVE. Nia has been and continues to be one of the major paths to these conditions. I give thanks every day for being a part of the magnificent Nia family!
